Sarkaghat is a town and a Sub division in Mandi district. It is situated in the lower hill of himachal. It is surrounded by small hills and looks very beautiful. Sarkaghat Sub Division geographical bordered with Kangra and Hamirpur.
Sarkaghat is easily approachable from any part of Mandi distt as well as other part of state.
Sarkaghat has many important Govt and private offices and peoples of surrounding areas comes here for there day to day needs. It has two constitencies namely Gopalpur and Dharampur. The religion of people is mainly Hindusiam and many temples like Awahdevi, nabahi, kamlah are notworthy. It is believed that gold used to be collected from a river whose name itself is Son- Khadd. The subdivision has many upcoming private institutions alongwith govt run schools.These schools are equally providing quality education to the students.
The Sarkaghat Urban Local Body came into existence during the year 1981. The Nagar Panchayat Sarkaghat has 7 wards. A new ward Dabrog also including in Nagar Panchayat Sarkaghat recently. The present population of this town is about 6000 and the floating population is about 1 Lacs per month.
