Connectivity

  1. Air Connectivity
    • There are three airports in the Himachal Pradesh. The Shimla Airport is well connected with both Chandigarh and Delhi by air. The distance about 12 kms from the airport to Shimla can conveniently be covered by road. Other airports in the state are Kangra (Gaggal) Airport at Gaggal and Kullu Airport at Bhuntar. Apart from Indian Airlines, some Private Airways also operate regular flights to Himachal Pradesh. Apart from these the International Airport, Raja Sansi at Amritsar and Chandigarh Airport is also nearby.
  2. Rail Connectivity
    • Una is the only station in Himachal which is connected with Borad Gauge railways track while there are two Narrow Gauge railway tracks namely Kalka – Shimla; Pathankot- Joginder Nagar in Himachal Pradesh. Kiratpur, Jagadhri, Dehradun, Pathankot and Chandigarh are nearest major railway stations outside of Himachal Pradesh.
  3. Himachal Pradesh state has a good road network. There are 9 national highways with total length of 1,250 km, 20 state highways with total length of 1,625 km and 45 major district roads with total length of 1753.05 km.
