Devidarh: Hidden treasure of Himachal, wonderful landscape and breathtaking view !!!
Devidarh is a small village and the beautiful place in the dense pine forest in the Jauni valley above Chailchowk at a distance of 17 KM from here, It is about 56 KM from Mandi here you can find traditional culture and abandon with natural beauty. A temple at the one end of a sloppy ground similar to that of Khajiyaar (famous tourist destination in Chamba Himachal) so it can be called mini – Khajiyaar. The average height of this place is 2421m from sea level.
You can find various water run floor houses“GHARAT” here. Devidarh has a small temple and has max of 10 houses, there is no hotel till date only guest houses are available here but this place is real Himalayan paradise for adventure lover, once they reach here they forget about other crowded hill station, Devidarh is the base of two trekking route one is Shikari Devi treks and other is Kamrunaag Lake treks both the treks are moderate treks. Bike tour and camping are other adventure activities. Bike tour can be started from Mandi, Sundarnagar via Chailchowk, road is almost good upto Shalla village after that road condition is rough.
There are many spots around Devidarh which are ideal for camping, Devidarh is also good for Jungle Safari if promoted, whole area comes under Shikari Devi sanctuary,home for various wildlife and herbal pants.

A small rivulet Jauni tributary of river Bias flowing down up from the mountains through Devidarh, the valley is so called Jauni, land is very fertile and landscape is beautiful on both side of Jauni river, green fields and breathtaking views make this valley as one of the beautiful valley of Himalayas.
There are also good possibi lity for river crossing, camping and rock climbing, fish angling and other activities but till date no such activities are offered by any operator or govt agencies. The area comes under Shikari devi Wildlife sanctuary all the flora and fauna are protected to conserve Himalayan ecosystem. This beautiful place is waiting to explore by nature lover and hikers. There are many picnic spots all over the areas.

Climate:
Devidarh climate is very cool all over the year, winter is very harass due to cold wave, heavy snow fall occur during the month of December and January. Temperature varies from -7 to 30 degree over the year. Summer is the best time to visit and explore Devidarh.
Accommodation:
Devidarh is yet to have hotels and good guest houses, there are few guest houses and a forest rest house, best option till date is camping if any boday want overnight stay here, for hotels and other accommodation one has to travel back to Chailchowk or Mandi.
Food:There is only one shop (a gust house as well) which provide foods till date or take food items along with you as there are almost no restaurant after Chailchowk or get back to Chailchowk for food.
Transport:
By Road There is a road connectivity up to Devidarh but road condition is not good after Jachh village, regular buses ply upto Jahal village which is 5 KM from Devidarh. Taxi can be hired for smooth journey.
By Train
Nearest Railway station is Shimla(Narrow gauge) and Kiratpur Shaib (Broad gauge) after that Taxi or buses can be used.
By Air
Nearest airport is Bhunter(Kullu) then by Taxi to Devidarh.

Prashar Lake: The lake is situated at an avg. height of 2730m (8,960 ft) in the lap of mountains. The deep blue lake lies in a saucer shaped valley and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
Saroa: Saroa is a beautiful place near Chail Chowk at a distance of 15 KM from here and 45 KM from Mandi at an altitude of 2230 meter above sea level on mountain ridge.
Rewalsar Lake: Also known as Tso Pema Lotus Lake, is located @ 22.5 km south-west from Mandi. It is held as a sacred spot for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists alike.
Janjehli: Janjehli is surrounded by pine forest and mountains, one of the best place for adventure activities like, night safari, hiking, trekking and mountaineering.
Barot : A nice picnic spot situated at a distance of 33 km. from Mandi on the Mandi – Pathankot Highway. It is famous for trout fishing and a ropeway that attracts the tourist.
Kamru Nag Lake & Temple : Resting resort for trekkers at a height of 3,334 meters above sea level on the Mandi–Karsog road. You can start trek from Rohanda which is 40 km from Sundernagar & 60 km from Mandi.
Tips:
- Book the hotel/guest houses on prior basis from the above mentioned numbers as the room might not be available due to many visitors or peak season (Apr – Aug approx).
- In winters there might be scarcity of water due to broken water pipes owing to freezing temperature, so carry some potable water bottles along with you.
- Fill your fuel tanks with enough petrol @ NH, as there is no petrol pump in the hilly region.
- You might enjoy local festival in june.
- While visiting the hilly areas, please pack warm clothes & carry the first aid kit.
